Four Vedas - Sanskrit text with Hindi commentary by Jaydev Sharma

The Vedas are the most ancient sacred texts of Hinduism. Each of the four Vedas consists of the metrical Mantra or Samhita' part and the prose 'Brahmana' part giving discussions and directions for the detail of the ceremonies at which the Mantras were to be used and explanations of the legends connected with the Mantras and rituals. Both these portions are termed shruti (which tradition says to have been heard but not composed or written down by men).

The Rig Veda commentary by Jaydev Sharma was first published in 1930 in 7 volumes along with 2 volumes of Yajur Veda, one volume of Sama Veda & 2 volumes of Atharva Veda. The author has taken care to make his commentary lucid and profound. His commentary is based on the commentaries of ancient sages like Sayana, Skandaswami, Venkatamadhava and also on the modern day sages like Swami Dayanand.

The translations from Jaydev Sharma are inaccurate, the translations on vedpuran.com by taponishta Sri Rama Sharma Vedacharya are better.

Indian history was altered many times by Britishers, Mughals etc. Britishers were Christians - Mughals were Muslims.

Due to those impacts, India lost command over its own treasure land - the very famous knowledge base known as Vedas. Vedas were translated by Western people like Ralph Griffith, Max Muller who had their personal intentions. They promoted Vedas keeping in mind what Bible says. For example, Max Muller predicted Vedic origin to be 2,000 BCE as he believed in Biblic flood which is 4,000 BCE & which continued for 1,500 years.

Even today, people in India think that Vedas were written in 1,000 BCE to 2,000 BCE. Astronomically, D.O.B. of Lord Ram is January 10th 5,114 BCE. Valmiki mentions that he wrote Ramayana before Ram's birth. Ravana was established leader for 1,000 years during Ram's birth. Ravana knew Vedic origin. Then how were Vedas written in 2,000 BCE? The so called sage Veda Vyasa only collected and consolidated Vedas. Vedas existed much before him.

If anybody knows any way out from this huge demise of civilization / culture; kindly enlighten those humans who have deviated from the right path.

yes i do believe that vedas existed much before the date max muller has predicted but its not about the date of existence of vedas its about penning it on a book in a organised way...it can be possible that ravan learnt vedas by any other method than book...

yup, Pt. Shriram Ram Sharma Acharya's translation is the best. Even one of the greatest scholar of this nation who wrote Srimad Bhagvad Gita Rahasya, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Sri Binoba Bhave and Mahayogi Sri Aaurobindo also accepted it.
Must read the book by VEDA RAHASYA by Sri Aurobindo.

Vedas are Apourusheya (not by human) & originated 197 crore (1.97 Billion) years before, just after the shrusti (creation). This is 28th Kaliyuga in 71nd Manvanthara; as per Vedic calulations. Vedas are Mantra Samhitas only. Anybody want to know the real meaning of Vedas, should study Angopangam (complete with all 4 Upa Vedas, 6 Angas, 6 Upangas, Brahmanas/Aranyakas, Upanishads) under a real Guru. You can access comlete Sanskrit text only and with reasonable Hindi translation of all four Vedas from mostly by Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati (rest by his disciples) in www.AryaSamajJamnagar.org), try to read Hindi section, which is more powerful & effective than English (though I am not a native Hindi speaker, from Kerala).

Majority of translators follow Sayanacharya, who interpretted Agni as fire; Soorya as Sun; Mitra as friend; Varuna as water, etc. The real meanings is mainly names & description of Ishwara (Almighty). They have many meanings. Those who can read & understand Malayalam, please subscribe & READ Arshanadam (the only Vedic-Philosophic magazine in Malayalam, by great Vedic scholar late Naredra Bhooshan from 1970). Yajurveda bhashyam is in progress in it (stared by Naredra Bhooshan).
